Bradford 2025 City of Culture grant scheme launches in Ilkley
Ilkley Town Council is offering community organisations financial support of up to £350
Ilkley Town Council is encouraging local community organisations to apply for a brand new grant scheme as part of the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture celebrations.
Up to £350 is on offer to help organisations with their plans to host a wide range of cultural events and activities throughout the year.
“For the first time, the UK City of Culture will be a district-wide event, giving a unique opportunity to celebrate the talent in local communities in and around Bradford, including Ilkley,” the council said.
One grant per group is available and all applications need to be submitted to the deputy clerk at least one month before the town council’s Community Engagement and Partnership Committee meetings.
Organisations also need to show a commitment to equality, accessibility and diversity, as well to carbon reduction and sustainability.
Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture is a year-long programme of culture that “features performances, exhibitions, events and activities inspired by the extraordinary variety of [the Bradford District” landscape.
Around 6,500 new jobs are expected to be created in the area and, according to the government, it’s forecast that the cultural and economic activity that will come as a result of being UK City of Culture “could leverage and accelerate an extra £700 million of growth for the Bradford district by 2030”.
By working together with DCMS we are not only creating new opportunities, but also equipping local people with the skills needed to thrive,” Dan Bates, executive director of Bradford City of Culture 2025 said last year.
“This commitment to Bradford to enhance and develop its infrastructure, and ensuring our creative venues are accessible for all, will leave a lasting impact on generations to come. This investment is helping to shape a brighter, more dynamic future for Bradford and beyond.”
