"I will stand up against Labour-run Bradford Council and their relentless attacks on our local services"
Paul Golding is the Conservative candidate for the Worth Valley by-election to Bradford Council 🔵
It is a huge honour to have been chosen to stand in the Worth Valley ward by-election and to work with the fantastic existing councillors like Rebecca Poulsen and Chris Herd together with Robbie Moore, the MP for Keighley and Ilkley. The Worth Valley ward has a dedicated local team representing them who are strong advocates for residents and believe in getting stuff done.
Whether it’s challenging Yorkshire Water on fixing water leaks, improving road junctions, opposing inappropriate planning in the green belt or clearing litter they work for the Worth Valley every day.
I will stand up against Labour-run Bradford Council and their relentless attacks on our local services. I helped campaign against the closure of Sugden End Household Recycling Centre that was then closed by the Labour council. I would continue to campaign for better recycling services and more fly tipping enforcement and prevention work to stop our beautiful area being blighted by fly tipping.
I live in Denholme, which will become part of the Worth Valley Ward in May, where I am a Denholme town councillor and lead on planning issues. I have been a special constable with West Yorkshire Police and from these roles I have gained the skills needed to help support residents with issues across the Worth Valley. I enjoy working with local groups such as the local allotment group and bringing communities together.
I really enjoy getting to know people and supporting the community with issues. I have spoken to hundreds of Worth Valley residents over the last few weeks and have already been helping with local projects.
This by-election has been called by Reform UK following the sad death of councillor Russell Brown before Christmas, despite the local election campaign starting only five weeks after the by-election.
This by-election will cost local taxpayers over £30,000 to elect a councillor who will then face re-election again only five weeks later. I believe in taxpayers getting value for money and the behaviour of Reform shows they don’t care about value for money for local residents.
My priorities, if I am lucky enough to become a Worth Valley councillor, would be to focus on road safety – particularly around our schools – fighting inappropriate development in our greenbelt, reducing fly tipping and supporting the National Grooming Gangs Inquiry to focus on Keighley and Bradford.
On 12 February, please vote for a strong local voice to work with your existing Worth Valley Conservative team to make a difference in the Worth Valley.
