As a former Labour party member and candidate for BMDC in a Green stronghold I can't agree with Matt more.

Although I am not a Green Party member or supporter (their internal inconsistencies will IMHO cause them to break apart when closer to power - look at their NIMBY opposition to energy infrastructure whilst also wanting a Green revolution) they're consistently the right voices when calling out the realities of BMDC.

Despite many good councillors and fantastic members the local Labour leadership has lost its way. It's bunker mentality.

Best of luck to all those councillors with the good of their constituents at heart, whatever their political persuasion.

Thanks for reading Andrew - really appreciate their thoughts.

Not sure I quite agree with the points on inconsistencies - but maybe a conversation that's for another day. I would say that politics tends to oversimplify things as being right and wrong, and Greens are better at picking out the nuance.

Genuinely wish you all the best. Calling it out accurately for what it is is a good first step.

Conversation around the inconsistencies and incoherences won't be progressed until you're tested by power. I'd kinda like to see how you navigate it.

For now though, official opposition OR kingmaker in 2026? Moore is obviously setting out his stall already with this no confidence gimmick.

Almost makes me wish I was still involved. Almost.
